PRIMe
PRIMe is a unique composite metric developed by Mediaboard. It expresses the impact of media publicity through a single numerical score combining four key pillars: relevance, sentiment, reach, and content quality. The score is designed as an easy-to-understand, at-a-glance indicator of publicity value and is generated automatically by an AI model.
units
- Score or % (ratio)
Additions, clarifications, extended definition
The score is calculated automatically from the outputs monitored in Mediaboard. Each article or mention is assigned a value between –100 and +100. The results can be aggregated at the level of campaigns, brands, or time periods.
Interpretation
A high positive score means a highly relevant, positive output with quality placement and good reach.
A negative score indicates a potentially harmful impact, for example negative content in high-reach media.
PRIMe helps quickly distinguish which outputs really matter, offering a more reliable alternative to outdated metrics such as AVE.
Watch out: limits and risks of distortion
- PRIMe ≠ AVE / PR value. It is a composite impact score, not a financial equivalent of advertising. (Mediaboard explicitly positions PRIMe as a modern alternative to legacy metrics.)
- Do not use PRIMe in isolation. Combine it with other metrics, especially sentiment analysis or share of voice, to get a more complete picture.
Where and how to measure
- PRIMe is available directly in the Mediaboard tool, where it is calculated continuously for all monitored outputs.
Example from practice
If you are tracking media coverage of a new product campaign, PRIMe helps you distinguish whether the mentions are genuinely valuable. For example, the topic of "sustainability" may generate fewer articles than the topic of "price", but achieve a higher average PRIMe score – and therefore greater strategic value for communication.
